As I pointed out here our well had been on an off grid system now for a while but with the poor solar conditions now for many days I took it off to let the batteries charge up to float for the day. My well is 120v not 240, though it can be wired fir either.

This inverter is nothing more than one of those "junk" MSW inverters Ross was talking about.
It does fair for most loads, but I do agree they have their limitations. Someday I might be able to afford a PSW.

Thanks every one . Guess I need more batterys, more panels, = more watts and more carrying capacity.. Also need a larger inverter, my guess is 2500w 4000w surge. Thats ok. one step at a time is the rule of thum around here. hummmm   best buy for an inverter???   BTW  a MSW is ok with me as long as the pump works. The nearest fuel is 40 mi round trip. Thats one reason the solar power looks so good.  And we get a lot of Sun here, elevation 4400 and sunny, high desert more or less   ,sage and juniper rule  .Grit

Guess this project will take a while to get in order.
I have aquired  one BP 160 24 v panel  plus the 480 i already have totals to 640 watts .
I probly use the 6 volt golf cart batterys.
What I am having the bigest problem is what inverter to use. Any one willing to stick there neck out and point me out ??  I notice Ebay is over run with the MIC. Things have changed in the fact I have been off line for four years. But trying.  Grit

Stick with something with a name brand, even if it is a lower end name brand.

I like Vector for new or used and cheap MSW. Not top-of-the-line, but I have good results with the many I have installed on less important applications.

I like the transformer-based versions of Tripp-Lite that weigh a LOT for the watts (30 pound 1200W?).

Wolvenar, Not a lot  ecept the 160 watt BP pannel I picked up. Just found some 80 watt used panels for $80. I,m thinking on that. I had a little set back Monday the 21 st I woke up at 3 am to a Heart attack . Being off the grid took a while to get to a small town 20 miles away where I was shuttled to the state line to another awaiting EMT team and another ambulance, then 20 more mile trip. the the ER , Then had a Stint run up my groin into my heart, UGH.   Anyways then the reality of having to be on 5 meds and ----one ----of them cost $247.    But hay I,m  alive  and can still chase the old womman around LOL. But havent tried it YET!
I havent had much luck finding the type of  inverter needed    ???    GRIT

Oh not cool, so sorry to hear about the heart attack.
Hope you get back to as normal as possible soon.

You lucked out and gave the reaper the slip, and are very lucky.

We have a relatively close neighbor that had a heart attack.
She didn't make it,  :'(
It all happened very fast, not enough chance to get her to any emergency services.

Very glad your still with us

Wolvenar - BJ    thanks for the encouragement.
(You lucked out and gave the reaper the slip, and are very lucky)     Oh Ya   !
Sorry about your neighbor.
I,m on the mend a little at a time. Had a blood clot in the heart bout ten years ago,    THE EVILS OF SMOKING. I had quit December but guess not soon enough. lots of years of self abuse.   NUF SAID.
Still on the hunt for an inverter.   Being a Sun worshiper is an Ok thing once you start on this journey. Every day you can see the Sun is a plus   , Grit

I agree about becoming a sun worshiper, not only for power but health.
The wife and I have medical different conditions but both are dramatically helped by the sun.
Au. is looking better all the time.  ::)
