I made some time to figure out the mystery of the grinding TDM from TomW
Tom had mentioned he thought this had bad bearings, but ever since I got this I had a nagging feeling I have felt this kind of drag before. I had initially thought maybe it was brushes, but yesterday I found out.
This sounded/felt familiar because I had this very same thing happen on a treadmill motor I played with years ago.
Seems the bearings are fine, but to re-glue the mags presents me with a question.
Minnesota has very extreme temperature changes,( very fast at times)
I had fixed that treadmill motor once with JB weld, and it worked at least into one winter, but in use AS a motor.
Today I checked and the very same magnet is loose in that motor, its been almost 8 years however.
I have also used JB weld to fix severe pitting and damage in an ATV carb. This worked wondrous until winter. It seems the aluminum flexes to much with temperatures to hold up, I had nothing but JB weld dust and chips left when I took it apart.
So anyone have suggestions on what I can use to put this together? Winter is right around the corner here, I would hate for it to fail really early on.
