Power Jack expert help needed
« on: March 23, 2019, 05:41:40 am »
My wife brought a 8000 Watt 48 volt New Old Stock 2015 power jack inverter

It was advertised as a 110 volt only
when it got here it was 230 volt only
I'm pretty sure 50 hertz instead of 60
is there a difference between the single phase and split phase boards

Is there a way to change the Hertz or can we build a oz controller is what we'd really like to do
me and my wife have been reading about power jack inverters for a couple years now and was dying to get one but couldn't find a 48 volt 1 that was under $1,000

so when this one popped up it
she was so happy to get it
we would like to fix it
I was sent to this site and told to ask Oz
 the famous but elusive Oz
we love your ev by the way
any help would be greatly appreciated
the more Oz hacks the better

Try messaging clockmanfrance I believe he was the one who was making the gerber files and/or pcb's but sure he can pointm you in the right direction.

If you can get a gerber file for the PCB there are companies on eBay that will make the board for you for cheap, 1 board or dozens doesn’t matter to them.

Hi Ben and Amber, you will probably find that PJ use the same transformer for both 220 and 110 volt versions.
It most likely has two windings that are parallelled for 110 volt, and connected in series for 220 volts.
As far as changing the frequency goes, I can't say about that, it is most likely a software setting. Or it could be a change of crystal oscillator.
You would need to read the many posts on this site about PJs or have a look at the Back Shed site for info there.
Alternately the voltage could be sorted by feeding the output of the inverter into a step down transformer.
The frequency will still be a problem.
Good luck
Pete
