Yeah bj , since I discovered that these batteries fit so well
into 3/4 thin wall plastic pipe it opens a whole new world
of possibilities with NiCads for me and your interest in my
projects help to inspire me...thank you.
Charging 12 volts worth of NiCads at a time in the EC right
now....beautiful day for Solar charging with my 3 VW panels
in series.

Now I kind of get the "cane" comments in IRC.
Yep, I am a bit slow some days.
Anyway.
Is this a power pack, or is it a way to charge batteries as you cane around? Maybe both?

Tom: it is power pack, which you could attach to Glen's dump load controller
to limit the charge. It is long enough to accomadate enough NiCads for even a
19.6 cordless drill or device by lowering the bottom pin, so you could prop it up in a
cornerfrom your solar or wind output, etc. when in use you could plug your cordless
drill custom adapter like you have ....a convenient cement block with it's two holes
near the work area to zonk the cane/s in and you'd be ready to go.
Of course they don't have to be canes ....just 3/4 thin wall plastic tubing of sufficient
length. they are so easy to make!
Another neat part the batteries can be any size units you want 1,2,3,4 or 5 cell
units....if you had a few cells and some or one was bad just remove and use the
good ones just rip off the tabs between the good and bad cells and put em in
piggy-back just like a big 10 or 12 cell flashlight.
BTW if you are interested in making your own sticks, I can send you enough good....
tested batteries to fill some sticks :)
