Title: Solar Tie Dye Shirts
Post by: WooferHound on March 02, 2016, 04:09:08 am
I have had many shirts ruined by leaving them out in the Sun and they get faded too much. I saw a guy a couple of weeks ago that had this problem with his shirt and it gave me an idea , Sun Faded Tie Dye Shirts. So I got out a few T-Shirts and rolled them up with string tied around them. I did 3 different styles of rolling the shirts to see what is possible. Here they are sitting out in the Sun for the first time, I'll post again in a few months with my results.

--- Solar Tie Dye Shirts ---
Two months ago I twisted up some black shirts in a tie dye fashion, but instead of dying them, I set them out in the Sun for 2 months to bleach them out. One month on each side out in the direct sunlight. They were brought inside on rainy days then promptly returned outside. Here are the results . . .

--- Solar Tie Dye ---
I have a couple more Solar Tie Dye T-shirts to look at. After seeing the effects from the first shirts I made, I changed the design to produce a star burst pattern by pulling the shirt through a small circle and tying it off with cotton string. I left these shirts out in the Full Sun over reflective Aluminum foil ,for 40 days to bleach them out into these designs. The shirt on the left was done twice, 2 different ways and has a 3D look to it. I have about 8 more shirts to experiment with including some Colored shirts. I'm having some camera issues these days so the pictures are fairly sucky.

I have a new batch of shirts that have been enjoying the Hot Sun for about 40 days

I have 5 more shirts out in the sun right now. Have figured it out and ready to make some for my friends. Don't want to dispense of my already used shirts, so I'll buy some new black shirts to make for y'all. It takes a while so expect some offers to come sometime in October.

I am tying stuff into the current shirts, like Balls, Lightbulbs, Beer Bottles, and Dishware to try and create some new patterns.

Hoping to make the friend list.  If so, hoping to be greedy and order two.  If so, just let me know,
and I will get the bucks to you.  (don't care about price, just want to wear and tell the story ;) )
The sample looks great.
