You don't have to build one.  You can just buy one.  Ac permanent magnet servo motors are perfect for wind turbines.
You just have to do your homework for your needs and then find one.

Exactly so. I am only replacing the blades everything else is staying stock. I was going to repaint it with automotive paint and then clearcote but decided it has tight paint and no slop in the bearings I will just let it fly. These things are literally bullet proof. Unless you have a Barrett or something ;=>. Zubbly always said that this grade of  motors have  bearings rated continuous duty so they last a long time.  The wood treatment simply wore off and weather did what it does to raw wood. They probably would have gone awhile longer but I certainly would hate to lose the machine due to a weakened, weathered blade breaking and imbalance tearing it apart.
