Schneider Electric C-40 or C-60?
« on: March 01, 2012, 12:22:35 pm »
Well I could not afford a nice MPPT controller right now.
I settled for (what once was) Xantrex C60 charge controller.

Well at least I ordered a C60 controller, but when I received it, on the inside on the PCB I see this..

Can anyone post a pic of what it SHOULD look like in a Xantrex C60 controller please
I don't know if the new company that bought Xantrex has now cut costs, and have redesigned these to use the C40 boards or, maybe just cut down on the actual extra capacity they once had for safety, or have I been sent the wrong device?

Well after a call to the Schneider Electronics help line, and of course talking to a person from India ( nice guy but hard to understand)..

I have a definitive answer.

The C-40 supports 48volt and C-60 does not.
Hence the 48volt setting pins on the bottom right of the controller board will be missing if it is a C-60.

I most certainly got a C-40 and not a C-60..

* Wolvenar is off to tear into a seller...

---edit------
I did not get a pic of the C-40 before I traded it, but this is what to look for to determine for certain you got a C-60 not a C-40

Well after finding a local in need of the higher voltage capabilities of a C-40 I made an equal swap new C-60 for new C-40.
Giving the seller a break I guess, but they didn't get a good review as I would have had to pay the return shipping.
This worked out well for me after all

I wish I would've seen this earlier.  I had an almost new (in Sept 2011) Morningstar TS-MPPT-60 that I swapped out with a MidNite Classic 150.  I ended up selling it to a neighbor in the mean time.  I paid $500 for it and sold it for $425 slightly used.
