Sorry about the long downtime everyone.
I was out of state, and of course when I leave, that was when things decided to go bad.
I left on vacation with my wife, shortly after there was a small electrical storm that graced our town.
Small or not, it was more than enough to do damage.
Not sure where the hit was, or complete path, but we suffered a lightning hit.
This server was one of the few things that were not on behind the off grid inverter at the time.
Most of our place automatically switches off the grid when there is lightning in the area, because of recent wiring work, the AP server was not one of them. That was supposed to be a very short term fix for having much of the wiring unfinished in the building the server was in. Well that work has spanned a couple weeks, and is still unfinished.
The damage was not as extensive as it could have been, but it certainly did enough damage that I could not remotely fix anything. So this stayed down until I returned home.
There were nightly backups of all data, one of is located offsite, so it was recoverable, but not up to the minute.
Hopefully it is not to old.
This is again a very temporary fix until I can implement something better planned out. (I hope)
Again so sorry for the down time.
