                                                     Part one.

2457-0
Where the tabs are attached
2459-1
Placing the flat side of the diagonal pliers downward
gently rock the pliers forward.
2461-2
exposing the junction of the first spot welds
2463-3
Wedging the front jaws into the strip as close to the spot welds
as possible grip the jaws onto the strip and gently roll the pliers forward
and at the same time rock gently side to side.
2465-4
If you did it right you get this.
2467-5
If you did it wrong you get this.
This is the first  steps toward replacing the battery s
in a cordless drill pak.
It's best to only remove the tabs on the negative end of the cell
as the base is easier and best to resolder the tabs.

 part two to be continued..............

         Part 2 of selecting cells
Once I had the cells with tabs on one end needed 15 for 18 volt drill ...
so with only 12 volt charger I made up 20 and charged 10 at a time .
numbered each one and printed the voltage of each one (average after
charging 1.31) good enough for the first run. 3/4 " thin wall tubing to
hold 15 copper wire pins on each end ( the tabs folded on each top end
gives the whole column spring tension to push against the pins).
Total voltage 19.2 to start ....ran it 6 minutes continuous and down to
12 volts.
Now it would have only been down to 18 volts....But upon checking
each cell most averaged 1.2 volts....but 3 were 0.00 and one was even
reverse polarity !
The results of the 4 were not surprising tho'  for they were the ones
that had been zapped!
Now to recharge them and substitute Good ones for those 4 losers
tomorrow.....will let you know how they turn out .
to be continued........................
