A use for old tires/w wheels
« on: July 06, 2012, 06:34:14 am »
......well after a few false starts wasting  a couple days I finally succeeded in
making a kind of pedestal table to hold a picnic table umbrella.....Like so:
 1324-0
Looks so simple, hmm?  cause it's basically 2 wooden discs (particle board)
Couple of lag bolts screwed  thru the lug bolt holes into the 2x4 column.
The beauty of this thing I found a use for those old wheels laying around
that I inherited from my sons! It would have cost me a few dollars for the junk
dealer to take it off my hands    ......screw them !  Huh?  Nother neat thing
you can tilt the whole works and roll it any where you want.
I don't expect the family to use it or appreciate it much .....but it just tickles the
crap out of me !  Will make a dandy outdoor work table !

Oh .....and here's the outdoor light for it:
 1326-1
the 20 plus 4  (2 of them for $10) at Big Lots......and the 6volt battery alkaline
power supply:

as before I plan on a small windmill to run the LEDs (RT stepper motors....those
D size alkaline really last actually work better than NiCads...for LEDs   and D size
batteries last much much longer than AAs or AAAs......don't they ?
Oh yeah speaking of storage....air that is that tire makes a dandy air tank 40 or 50 lbs.
would run a little air motor ( a la steam engine type) which could run a RT stepper motor?

Well that's it for now.....

Hey Tom got your battery all back together with the good replacement cells
checked out a couple of good battery packs charged one up and checked them out,
like 3 stacks5 in each string which is how them come then removed the ends  on
each stack leaving me with 12 14.4v ....charged them up with my 14.4 craftsman
smart charger couple of bad ones replaced them with some others I had checked out
kept charging them until I finally got them so I had 12 that all stayed within like
1.354 to 1.358 Have an adapter that I made so I can charge your battery and discharge
it with my 14.4 Craftsman drill it runs about 5 minutes no load before it drops down to
abou12 volts from fully charged.

Now I've got the bright idea to hook it up to my digital 12 function speedometer/odometer
from my PedGen the drill will turn it and tell me how fast , how long, how far it will go.

This'll work on all my other batteries too no more guessing or thinking what condition
my batteries are in  yippee !
