Turbine Operational
« on: November 18, 2016, 07:41:09 pm »
Now that the load system is up and running and most of the issues sorted out, I though I would post some build pictures.

Youtube video:
Base was quite a bit of work. Dug out hole with a skidsteer, built a ramp to drive down in there and out again.

Eraser that is impressive, now are you sure that you are not building a power supply for a small town or an island.
We have a lot of large wind generators in Tasmania where I live, I was told that they have around 100 cubic metres of concrete in the base of each tower.
Then again the ones I am talking about are a few megawatts each.
Your work looks great, Hope it all comes together soon.

Thanks, mine is just a baby compared to those big ones, this one has roughly 34 Cubic meters of concrete.

Some of the big ones in my area have upwards of 380 cubic meters of concrete.

My reasoning for having one is my area gets roughly 16MPH average wind over half of the year which is the cold season. And most days when there is cloud cover the wind is blowing 25+ MPH.

I put up a Whisper 500 generator and due to the success of it and the amount of power it made over a 2 year period I decided to move up.

This must have been a $50k+ exercise.
I cannot fathom the amount of money you have put into generating the amount of power you have for just a home/ farm.
Looks more like you are trying to power and keep a hotel in hot water.

fascinating to see, what kind of output do you expect to get at 25mph?

I'm not sure what it will end up at, still have some tweaking to do with the pitch control. Right now it is blowing 20.1 MPH and I am getting around 12000 watts.
