Evacuated Tube System
« on: October 02, 2016, 08:07:45 pm »
I decided to try to get my evac tube system plumbed in today.

I built a tray, if you will using 12" I-joists and we are wrapping each line with Fiberglass batts individually.

Anybody have any good products to wrap and insulate 3/4 size stainless tubing/3/4 iron pipe? It needs to be ultra high temperature.

Thanks

Commercial pipe insulation might be the ticket.  Hard preformed fibreglass, split along one side lengthwise.  It's made
in all pipe diameters.  Has to be wrapped in some kiind of water barrier.  Most commercial stuff is covered in light
aluminum,  but even 6 mil poly would work.
You have some serious heat generation there.
  Nice.

Wow, costs are around 12 dollars for three feet in my area.

That is for 3/4" X 2 3/4.

Sound right?

If it is, I wouldn't pay it.  Ben quite a few years since I was involved with it, and if memory serves,
it was in the dollar ten per at that time.
But, not much has gotten cheaper, so maybe.
Starting to sound like a bad idea.  Sorry

I found some a little cheaper. Might end up going that way, I still don't think its a bad idea.

Thanks for the input.
