problem uploading pics
« on: January 15, 2012, 11:29:33 am »
I have been trying to re-post an old story from the other board but I keep getting an error `Your attachment has failed security checks and cannot be uploaded. Please consult the forum administrator.` any ideas?

Of course, I don't know for sure, but sounds like they don't want you to do that.

What file extension do you have there?
What file size?

It has nothing to do with reposting from anywhere else, go for it.
There are very little that triggers those alarms so I would like to figure it out.
I am rather busy here today so I may not be able to get back to you right away.
If another moderator knows what is going on and is around, please have at it.

Hi I saved the text from the original and rather than link the pics from the other site I have been trying to upload the original pics they are all jpeg and sized 640x480. the post in question is in `small wind` 16ft turbine. I reposted `drilling magnets`last night in exactly the same way without a problem.
I will try a test here and see what happens

just tried several times without sucess "Your attachment has failed security checks and cannot be uploaded. Please consult the forum administrator."

Could you remove the post 16ft turbine and I will repost when I get to the bottom of this
Thanks Russell

Russel,

Please feel free to send me the picture (rover at rovr1.com). I'll check it out, possibly alter it so it can make it past whatever is giving you a problem.

Hi Rover the snag is I have tried about a dozen different pics and none of them will upload, its as if I have been blocked from uploading!
its strange as it worked fine yesterday.

I have several other stories to repost here with loads of pics.

Hiya Russel,
Just tried an image and it worked OK for me. Now I have my images stored in my IRC gallery then I just open the pic then right click and click on 'copy link location then paste the link in between the image tags.

Guys give that a try as it all seems to be working fine here.

Regards Bryan

Hi Russel,

I took your image , sent it to myself.. (asked it to resize to 640 480 .. same as your original image) and then tried to upload it... no issue worked fine. As a temporary solution, if you have any imaging editing software, try opening the offending image, and saving it , then try to upload.

We will look into why the original would not post, might be because it had xif tags (your camera information), but that's just a guess.

Rover

FYI, to resize for the forum , I usually attach my full blown pics to an email (a bunch at a time) , and have it  resize to 640 x 480, then don't send the email, but just save the attachments from the unsent email somewhere, and then upload those. I find its faster than going into an image editing software.
